(my favorite recipe posts I've made over the years, plus backstories that sound like your grandmother's reminiscing over the past.)
LATE WINTER BUTTER ROLLS
My first post I ever made. I was pretty new to the tumblr community at the time. I loved kitchen witchcraft, and I'm the type of person who will ramble on about how much I love cooking and baking. This blog gave me an outlet to express my love of cooking, baking, paganism, and witcraft. And these rolls are very tasty, I make them to this day!
WITCHY TOMATO BASIL SOUP
Tasty, simple, and a crowd-pleaser. It's perfect for a beginner kitchen witch! It was also the second recipe I ever posted.
SWEET CREAM BUNS
It was a recipe given to me by one of my good friends at the time. Every time I make it, it gets devoured in less than 10 minutes. It was also my first recipe to get over 50 notes. I was shocked but ecstatic that so many people would even give it the time of day lol.
WITCHY THUMBPRINT COOKIES
These ones were just fun to make and delicious lol.
A WITCH’S COZY BUTTERNUT WINTER SOUP
A quick soup that feeds a lot of people during the fall season. Fall is my favorite season, so of course I'm very biased lol.
SAMHAIN PUMPKIN BREAD
I love pumpkin bread and apple cider... So why not combine the two? This one was definitely one of my favorites of all time. Moist pumpkin bread and chocolate chips have to be one of my favorite things on this planet. It also makes for the perfect gift for friends and family. Yummy!
ANGEL’S AWARD-WINNING LEMON POPPY SEED BREAD
I love dessert loaves of any kind, so naturally, this would be on the list lol.
MAPLE BUTTER COOKIES
Super simple comfort food! I love any time of cookie with brown sugar.
BRING ME POSITIVITY PECAN FRENCH TOAST BAKE
I love French toast, and I love positivity~
SAMHAIN SOUL CAKES RECIPE
These are really good! And traditional. If you celebrate Samhain, I recommend you make some soul cakes and have friends and family help decorate. I give the littles a bag of orange frosting and let them go crazy lol.
FEEL BETTER CHICKEN SOUP
One of my most recent is my witchy twist on chicken noodle soup!

Some of my favorite meals I’ve made this summer, most with either food from my garden or foraged!
Here’s what everything is:
Mushroom “pot roast”, chile verde rice bowl, squash blossom quesadillas, breakfast tacos, wild green pesto pasta with stuffed and fried squash blossoms, honey baked filo wrapped feta with garden salad, our birthday party feast (lots of fruit, big salad, garden focaccia not pictured, a birthday cake made with himalayan balsam blossom raspberry jam not pictured, and blackberry rolls), roasted veg mix with Bärlauchbutter, falafel with rice and cucumber salad, and my latest creation which is squash blossom mac and cheese with crispy garlic green beans. I’ll probably do another post with things that didn’t fit in this one!
Oh, this has been so fun! I’m now ready for many stews and soups and chestnuts and wild mushrooms, please 🌰🍄🟫🍄

Heya! In the spirit of me becoming feral about La Fheile Bride/Imbolc/St. Brigid's Day, I was wondering two things: Do you have a favorite piece of art depicting Brigid, and do you have a favorite thing to cook for Imbolc? I like doing Bannock, but I kinda want to change it up this year.
I have a couple of favorite artworks depicting Brighid, mostly random paintings. I do have a print of this one by angelicshades on etsy hanging in my office. I don't know if it was particularly meant to be a depiction of Brighid, but that's how it hit me when I saw it. And I love me some Alphonse Mucha style art nouveau goddess art.
I don't usually cook a particular meal for Imbolc, but my offering on the day always consists of oatmeal, milk, and honey, sometimes with mead or whiskey as a chaser.
There are plenty of thematic options for Imbolc foods, like milk, cheese, eggs, honey, jams and preserves, oats, bread, beer, and wine. So you could try things like quiche, honey cakes, jam tarts, cheese and herb pinwheels, scones or muffins with honey butter, porridge with fixings, and sweet or savory pull-apart bread.
The foods that I see most often associated with Brighid in modern sources are blackberries, apples, potatoes, fish, cinnamon, and rosemary. So any dish using those might be appropriate as well. Perhaps a nice bit of salmon seasoned with honey, wine, and tart preserves and cinnamon baked apples for dessert. You can't go wrong with a nice bit of soda bread either.
Anyway, hope this helps and Happy Imbolc! 😊

for wincest wednesday this fine week: food as love language & touchstone (tastestone?)
palo alto -- with a 4.6-star shawarma place two blocks north of the first shitty dive apartment he scores, and a two-story ethiopian market six blocks west, and more vegetarian and vegan options than sam's seen in his entire life to date -- is a revelation in gastronomic terms.
sam eats tofu for the first time in his life at nineteen; eats tempeh and seitan and vegan cheese. (sam does not eat sardines on saltines because there's nobody to split the tin with, and he can't eat them all on his own.) sam eats breadfruit and resolutely does not think about mutiny on the bounty playing during abc's evening film slot and dean doing his best marlon brando voice, "not even twenty, and a death sentence on your head". (sam does not head straight for north carolina come september with the single-minded intent to eat enough ripe persimmons to make himself sick, but he knows who'll be doing just that.) sam eats swiss chard and lychees and cempedak, and doesn't miss unbruised pieces of apple served to him off the blade of a pocket knife.
sam eats vienna sausages cold, straight from the can with a dash of tabasco when he's feeling -- nostalgic's the wrong word for it, but a close cousin to that. when he misses the white-noise hum of tires on I-95 and the clatter-clank of the forever-broken air-con and his brother contorted in the front seat to pass sam the gallon ziploc of cherries from the farm stand up the road ("dollar-fifty a pound, can you believe it, sammy? fucking love stonefruit season."), already sweating in their plastic bag.
sam eats off-brand cereal and moon pies and hohos -- "hohos? fuck hohos; swiss roll is obviously the superior snack cake and you know it" -- and roller dogs and funyuns when he gets homesick.
sam hoards plastic pots of coffee creamer and flat-topped single-serve bricks of jelly out of unbreakable habit. concord grape, always; strawberry, usually; marmalade and mixed berry and apple butter and honey in nicer places that serve all-day breakfast; blackberry and seedless red raspberry only if he's exceptionally lucky. (these last two, being both rarest and dean's favorites, were more valuable to sam growing up than cigarettes amongst inmates. many a favor has sam bought himself over the years with nothing more than a fistful of jam packets and a winning smile.)
sam licks marshmallow and coconut from between his fingers and doesn't think about the hostess sno-ball, sweet'n'low pink of dean's tongue.
(later -- years later -- when dean waggles his lifesavers and tortilla chips and mountain dew at sam with overtures of breakfast, sam declines. later, he'll find his favorite pineapple soda and a bag of chili lime pork rinds under the bench seat because of all the people in all the world, the one who's never let sam go unfed is dean.)
MWAH! happy snacking; cilla/mdbp 😈🎉
happy wincest wednesday!!
you KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK!!!!!! GRAHHHHH!!!!!! YOUR WRITING MAKES ME BARK LIKE A FUCKING DOGGGG!!!!!!! gnawing on this ask like a chew toy.
the swiss rolls??? the food in palo alto?? the JELLY????
AND YOU'RE SO RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!
i have so much to say about this!!!! i've used "food as care" in my fics before, and as a form of connection between the two (pretty much all of tell me, why are you still so afraid, in the heaven fic, the vampire fic (in a diff way but still!), love potion no. 9, the mall fic, the outsider pov at the diner fic) because it's so true!
we're 800% not the only people to bring up the "food as care" parallels in media, or even spn--but it's so true!!!
you're so right about food being a love language! one of the first things that dean does in the bunker is make a nice meal for them both and wait for sam to eat first.
dean's "crime" that got him arrested and sent to the boy's home is stealing bread to feed sam. his crime is an act of care! an act of devotion! and it's that same devotion that encourages him to leave!
one of THEE sam&dean scenes that i've seen 400x in every edit ever as proof of dean's devotion/care is dean making sam spaghetti-os in that pot, and then letting him have dean's food instead.
dean keeps trying to ply sam with food and things to drink after his nightmares in the first few seasons, grabbing his face and bringing him close and asking if he's hungry, if dean can get him anything
and of course, arguably the most famous food scenes in the show--tuesday! pig n' a poke! what always makes me giggle is that sam never stops dean from eating? not really? he lets dean order his food every day/finds alternative food (e.g., tacos). even when he gets annoyed, he orders dean's food for him. even when sam himself stops ordering things to eat, he makes sure dean stays fed. it doesn't matter, bc they'll live the same day again tomorrow, but sam lets dean eat!!!!! he lets him eat the meal that makes him happy! they end up in the diner more days than not, it sounds like. he's caring for him, even as he gets frustrated and angry and sad and hopeless!
even when dean dies in that same episode, we see sam eating a meal at his motel, and dean's food is also on the table!!! he's been ordering dean meals for months, even though he's dead!!!!!! ARGH!!!!!!
dean seems unnerved and tense around sam when eating in S6, because even though he eats, he doesn't find any joy in it, or teasing dean about it. all their shared meals in early S6 are either tense or disturbingly neutral, where they only talk about their hunts/the overarching plot in bland detail.
hell, dean (and the show) frame the leviathans using biggerson's food as a very personal and dirty betrayal--they use food as a weapon
even in IATL, the "thing" that changes about dean the most that the writers told us first and foremost, is his relationship with food! sam--who has been reaching out all episode and rebuffed--asks to go get food with dean after their initial walls-down moment, and dean denies his attempt at care and connection! he's on a juice cleanse!
many such cases!
i have this headcanon that dean stopped eating certain foods after sam left for stanford. suddenly, he can't stand bugles because they taste like sand in his mouth now that sam is not there to fight him for them.
he asks for no onion rings everywhere he goes because sam's long fingers aren't there to sneak them out of his wax-paper lined plastic fast-food basket.
and as soon as sam comes back, they go out to eat, and dean's like 'god, i can't fucking wait. i haven't had pork rinds/cantaloupe/mac and cheese/a reuben in forever!' and sam just kind of looks at him funny because dean used to eat BBQ pork rinds by the pound and sam gave him shit for it every time. and they used to sneak the little soggy plastic containers of cantaloupe from the cooler outside a publix in florida once a week, dean acting as a distraction by helping old ladies with their carts while sam's tiny hands got slick-wet with week-old re-frozen ice.
and one day, two years into stanford, sam thinks he sees a glimpse of short-cropped hair, freckle-kissed skin through the café window sam's been picking up swing shifts at, and sam leaves the espresso machine still dripping, pushing past a bleary-eyed biology professor sam knows from gen ed, and spins in a circle outside, blinking sun from his eyes.
by the time he can see, the person is gone. and sam is standing in the 7/11 after work, buying a bag of hostess powdered don-ettes because dean used to buy them on sunday morning and they would eat them and watch re-runs of 90210 until their t-shirts were smeared white and their fingers were spit-sticky and soggy while everyone else in georgia and alabama and oklahoma was going to church.
food in supernatural is connection and home and reassurance and care!!!!!
your writing is again so good!!!! thank you for this lovely wincest wednesday ask, blessed, darling cilla!!!! mwah! mwah mwah!!

Heyya, I've been told by @irislazulee to come to you to tell me more of an OC named Regalus. I'm in the AFK Journey fandom but I'm interested in other AFKverse OCs as well. Think I may be able to know more about him?
Oh of course! So hello! I am the creator of the OC Regalus [along with several others!] I'll give his bio, a bit of his backstory, and a few interesting facts about him.
Regalus is a half Hypogean, the son of Leofric and another OC of mine, Lady Delilah. Leofric was unaware of Regalus for the first six years of his life. I'm currently revamping this little story but if you want when I am done, I will happily post it.
Regalus’s full name is Regalus Mahki Betzalel. He has heterochromatic eyes, his right eye is red and his left eye is gray. Here is a picrew of what he looks like:
[Yes, part of his hair is white. Also this specific picrew does no allow separate colored eyes.]
In terms of power, he has shadow manipulation, shadow transportation, presence of fear [rarely used], and swordsmanship. Fencing being his specialty. He is trained in theology, history, music, arts, etc, all the skills that most nobility are trained in.
He has a Shadow Mastiff that is called Duke, who is loyal to three people, Regalus, Delilah, and Leofric. [It was actually Duke who led Leofric to Regalus.] He also has a pair of horns which are hidden via a glamor.
Now for a few fun facts about Regalus!
-He is currently 20 years old
-He is 5'10"
-He has a fear of fire because of a tramuatic event. He has gotten better about it, but still cannot stand the sight of magneta flames.
-Even though he looks human, there are times his shadow does not match. It shows something taller, larger, something monstrous in appearance. These instances are quite rare though, usually due to extreme emotional distress.
-Regalus’s favorite food are Nonnettes. They are a french style gingerbread cake with blackcurrant/blackberry jam with a lemon drizzle.
-He is quite popular at balls/soirees for his calm demeanor, manners, and etiquette, along with his unique looks.
-Because he is half Hypogean, he cannot stay long in areas where Celestial magic is strong, i.e. churchs. It can cause a reaction as if he was allergic.
-Just like his father, Regalus has information on everything and everyone. Nothing escapes him.
-On this note, do not try and lie to him. He will see through it.
-No one has ever seen him get angry. The most anyone has seen is a grimace which quickly changed to a rather unnerving smile. No change in his voice, his tone, or his body language. Yet, several reported a strange chill and a need to get away from him.
And that's Regalus! If you want information on any of my other OCs, please do not hestiate to ask! I have Celestials, Hypogeans, Lightbearers, and more! I'm even writing a fanfic starring three of my OCs!

Happy Nice Ask Day 🧚🏼♀️
Top 5 favorite desserts??
I love this question because I am 100% a sweets person, this has no particular order
Milhoja, a dessert made with layers of puff pastry, creme patisserie and arequipe (dulce de leche) I could eat 50 of these
Napoleón, I don't know where else this exists in this specific form, but it's made with milk, condensed milk and milk cream and you put the mix in a layer of Ducales (a cracker, but like, with a very distinct flavour) and you sprinkle cocoa on top. Top tier
Red Velvet cake, with cream cheese filling. My friends and I have the habit of trying out Red Velvet anywhere we go and ranking them (A café in Cisneros, Antioquia has the best one so far.)
Mint chocolate chip ice cream, not very common here so I never lose the opportunity when I see it
Obleas, I'll count this as a dessert, it's two wafers with things in between, typically arequipe and cheese (costeño cheese, which is salty) and many people add more stuff like condensed milk, strawberry or blackberry jam, chocolate chips, cocoa powder, if you can fit it there you can see it.

feel free to ignore this but. i need to tell you about what flavor i think each p5 cookie is. joker is dark chocolate ganache, morgana is those two tone cookies at walmart, ryuji is lemon poppyseed, ann is birthday cake, yusuke is stracciatella, makoto is blackberry lemonade, futaba is like a chocolate dipped orange, haru is oolong tea but with a blackberry drizzle, akechi tastes like fondant because he’s a fake ass bitch, and sumire is raspberry and blueberry jam. also because he is my favorite character i’m adding mishima in this he tastes like those marshmallows with the chocolate in the center.
I LOVE THIS AND I AGREE!!!
When I first drew them, I had a few ideas for flavors but I was never quite sure. My only ideas were Joker as some kinda coffee, Ryuji as something lemony, and Yoshizawa as some kinda strawberry thing like strawberry licorice or strawberry roll cake.
I like your ideas a lot >:) the akechi one made me laugh
This made my day like it made me really happy to see this-
So, I got the sudden motivation to draw a cookie Mishima!! :D

okay i made this recipe and it was delightful, and i thought it would be funny to review it from the POV of my Dragonborn-Chef Sophrine. love u tastesoftamriel
I've always had a bit of a fascination with Ashlander cuisine and culture--after all, one of my great-great-grandfathers was the Zainab Ashkhan! So you can imagine how delighted I was to stumble upon this recipe. I'm ashamed to say that in all my years of studying Morrowind food, I never realized how amazing their desserts were.
Convincing my family that yes, this is edible and yes, it is supposed to look like that was the difficult part. Actually, my husband wasn't so hard to convince; he's one of those adventurous Nords who will eat just about anything if it's not actually moving. The kids were a little more reluctant--Lucia said the cake looked "ominous" (her favorite word) and Hroar said it looked like dragon dung. Which is ridiculous, as dragon dung looks completely different. After I let them top it with copious amounts of blackberry jam, though, they both loved it and now ask for "blob cake" at least once a week.
Anyway! This dessert is wonderful: sweet but not too sweet, fun texture, and the perfect accompaniment to a cup of coffee and a warm fire after running around all day trying to solve everyone's problems. Gods, I'm exhausted.
Ashlander-style scuttle cake
When you first set eyes on a traditional scuttle cake, your instinct may be to scream or laugh in shock. It's BURNT! How could you possibly serve that? Just trust the Ashlanders on this one, because it's worth every bite (the burned bits are delicious too, and very much edible). A delightful dessert with a cup of coffee or a glass of sweet wine. Best served after refrigerating overnight, if you can bear the temptation.
You will need:
280g Philadelphia cream cheese
250g ricotta
150ml double cream
1 tsp vanilla bean paste (or 2 tsp vanilla extract)
4 eggs
125g sugar
1 tbsp flour
Method:
Preheat oven to 210C/410F.
In a large mixing bowl, combine all your ingredients and beat together well until smooth.
Line a loaf pan or springform tin (about 20cm) with a generous amount of baking parchment, making sure it lines the top of the tin too. Be sure to have extra paper poking out over the top as the cake will rise in the oven and this will prevent spillage.
Scoop your cake mixture into the tin and bake on the middle shelf for 40-45 minutes, until the top begins to look burnt (but not black!) and crackled. Don't worry, it's supposed to look that way!
Remove the cake from the oven and leave it to cool in the tin for at least and hour before moving it to the fridge. Leave it there for a few hours to set (though overnight is best), and serve cold.
Be sure to keep the paper on any unserved cake at all times, as it will start to sag if removed!
